Code of Conduct

This event is all about having fun and so to make sure the event runs smoothly and everyone has a good time there are a few simple, 'stating-the-obvious' type rules which we ask everyone to abide by.

OUR PRINCIPAL IS THAT WE WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE FUN & BE SAFE

Members only

Because this is a Scouting event we need to make sure that everyone attending really is a Scout Association Member (for insurance purposes, safety and outside relations). The only way for us to do this properly is to ask for membership numbers when booking, so please ensure that you know yours before applying!

For Network members this should not cause any problems at all; although we understand that not everyone will know their membership number off by heart! Everyone that is properly registered as a Network member and/or holds an adult appointment will have one.

If you do not know your membership number, here are several ways you can find out:

Participants under the age of 18

We are happy to accept Network members from the age of 17½ but it is the responsibility of the relevant host Network to make the necessary arrangements to accommodate such persons whilst meeting The Scout Association's rules as per POR (Policy, Organisation and Rules; available at www.scouts.org.uk/por).

There will be a licensed bar selling alcohol on site both nights. Alcoholic drinks will only be served to over-18s, and all bar staff will be instructed to check for ID as appropriate. In addition, all declared under-18s will be provided with a different coloured wristband when they check in.

We will be asking for confirmation from the Network Leader that they are aware of and will comply with all relevant Scout Association rules and requirements. Network Leaders must be able to commit to and complete the checklist (see below) before bringing any person under the age of 18 to the event.

Event bookings will not be accepted if the County Scout Network Commissioner for Derbyshire is not satisfied that the list has been completed and all points complied with. The organisers will treat very seriously any breach of the requirements, which will likely result in your unit being requested to leave the event without refund.

We would, however, like to reinforce the message that these are not our rules, but are those of The Scout Association. As event organisers we are obliged to follow these rules, which exist to address the potential Safeguarding/Child Protection concerns that may arise at events such as this one where there is a mix of young people and adults in attendance.

Scout Network Leaders' Checklist for bringing under-18's to Alton Towers Camp

This list may not be exhaustive, but highlights the main aspects of the requirements that we would like to draw to the attention of all persons wishing to bring under-18's along to the event.

Wristbands

Please wear your wristband at all times. This links you back to the health form left with us in case of emergency and means we know you have paid! It will also be used to obtain your breakfast each morning. Anyone on site without a wristband may be asked to leave. Bands for under-18s are a different colour.

Behaviour

This is a Scout event and participants are expected to demonstrate suitable behaviour. Please be considerate to others and bear in mind that there may be other people on site during the weekend not taking part in the event. Any behaviour deemed inappropriate by the Organisers or Drum Hill Staff may ultimately result in the persons concerned being asked to leave, without a refund, or being excluded from future events.

Alcohol

We will be operating a licensed bar and therefore, all the usual rules regarding the sale of alcohol apply. You may be asked for proof of age, so if you are lucky enough to look younger than you are then please carry ID!

We're probably stating the obvious but if you are drinking, please do so responsibly - particularly if you will be driving at any point during the weekend. And please remember that you may still be over the drink-drive limit the morning after! A range of non-alcoholic drinks will be available.

Due to licensing restrictions, only alcohol purchased on site may be consumed in the event marquees. You may consume your own alcohol in your camping area but please note that there may be other campers on site during the weekend and hence we would ask that any consumption of alcohol be restricted to the bar and your camping area only. No alcohol is to be taken beyond the areas indicated by the signs please.

As noted in the rules regarding under-18s, we would like to remind you that Scout Association rules state that under-18s may not consume alcohol at a Scout event; nor may the Leader(s) responsible for them.

Illegal substances

Again, we're stating the obvious and we'd be extremely disappointed if this was a problem at a Scout event, but clearly any illegal substances are simply not acceptable under any circumstances. Anyone suspected of being in possession of any risks being reported to the Police and ejected from the event.

Smoking

No smoking in any of the marquees or site buildings please!

Fires

Please note that for safety reasons fires and BBQ's will not be permitted on site during the weekend.
