About Alton Towers Camp
The Alton Towers Camp is Derbyshire's annual theme park camp,a large scale fun and social event for members of the Scout Network and others aged 18+ in Scouting & Guiding from all over the UK. Organised and hosted by Derbyshire Scout Network, the camp is held annually in October over a weekend to tie in with the theme park's Scarefest event, and takes place at Drum Hill Campsite.
Camp Format
Friday
The event kicks off on the Friday evening, with participants from all over the UK arriving at the campsite to set up their tents, before heading off to the main marquee for a disco and other entertainments.
Saturday
On the Saturday, after eating their cooked breakfast (included in the price), participants make their way to Alton Towers, where they will spend the day going on rides such as Thirteen, Nemesis, Rita, Air, and many more. Alternatively, choose Water Park tickets and you can spend the day in the theme park's warm Carribean-style water park, with a range of water rides and other attractions.
Participants return to Drum Hill in the evening for more partying, just like the Friday Night but better - with the added excitement of a Fancy Dress competition. Prizes are awarded for the most original fancy dress and Derbyshire Network members compete annually for the fancy dress trophy. We keep an open theme to encourage complete originality - in previous year's we've had everything from zombies and sperm; to people dressed in bunny outfits and even an Air Traffic Control tower! Other games and competitions will also take place, such as the Best Ride Photo competition. The bar is open late and we hope to provide a late-night food stall to satisfy your Late Night Munchies!
Sunday
Then on the Sunday, it is time to catch up with new friends over another inclusive cooked breakfast; before packing bags and heading off home.
