About Alton Towers Camp
The Alton Towers Camp is Derbyshire's annual theme park camp. Organised and hosted by Derbyshire Scout Network, the camp is held annually in October over a weekend, and takes place at Drum Hill Campsite.
The Alton Towers camp is open to all over 18s in Scouting & Guiding from all over the UK.
Camp Format
Friday
The event starts on the Friday evening with participants arriving at the campsite to set up their tents, before heading off to the main marquee for a disco and other entertainments.
Saturday
On the Saturday participants make their way to Alton Towers, where they will spend the day going on rides such as Nemesis, Rita, Air, and many more.
Participants return to Drum Hill in the evening for more partying, just like the Friday Night, with the added excitement of a Fancy Dress competition. Prizes are awarded for the most original fancy dress and Derbyshire Network members compete annually for the fancy dress trophy. We keep an open theme to encourage complete originality - in previous year's we've had everything from zombies and sperm; to people dressed in bunny outfits and even an Air Traffic Control tower!
Sunday
Then on the Sunday participants back their bags and head off home.
A cooked breakfast is provided each morning.
